Baby Announcements

I just had to share my grand daughter's baby announcement with you. This was done by Marcela of www.simplystatedstationery.com I have been referring her to my brides for the last couple of years because I love what she does. If you are looking for invitaions, announcements, etc. check out her website. Marcela is located in Burbank, but she is so easy to work with over the internet that the whole process is great. It seems like last year was the year of "the pink weddings!" I must of had 8 weddings that were pink, but of course all were so different too!

I loved how we put beautiful pink orchids with roses and Oriental lilies to give the beach wedding a little more of a tropical theme. We also added pink and white hydrangeas and magnolia leaves to make the my arch full and lush. Aren't the Pomander balls perfect as the entrance to the aisles. Truly a beautiful site as the bride walked down the aisle. Carrie from www.mccluskeyphotography.com took these great shots! Thanks Carrie for sharing them so graciously with me.

We added vendela roses, freesia and stephanotis with mini green cymbidiums mixed with the rich green of the magnolia leaves, Wow, I loved it!

We added seashells to the tall pilsner vases, so with all of the orchids it truly gave a tropical feel to the room.

Two weeks ago Grand child #3 made her debut at 9lbs. 10ozs. to my daughter Stacy and her husband Evan. Sienna is now the older sister, she is taking her job seriously by doing everything Mommy does with her own baby doll, too cute! My daughter thankfully had this baby in somewhat of my slow time, which I thank her very much. Not living close to San Diego it's quite the trek to San Luis Obispo in the middle of the night. The Ball family is well and loving having two girls.

Sarah and Alex are such a fun couple, getting together to decide on flowers in itself was a laugh a minute. It was an October wedding in Poway at Maderas Golf Club so we decided on rich fall colors. The outcome was terrific and I loved everything about this wedding, the photographer was Mellisa Mullen from http://melissamullenphotography.com//blog/ and as always made the wedding photos come alive. The wedding planner was Shari from http://charmedevents.com who did a fabulous job, she decided on a cranberry lemore linens from http://conceptspartyrentals.com that was beautiful and she made the whole day seamless. Rebecca and Troy at the Orfila Winery

Orfila Winery is a great spot for an outdoor wedding, especially if you want to bring in your own caterer. Rebecca and Troy love good food and wine so this was a natural spot for them. The wedding was in early April when the grape vines were just beginning to grow. We were having a beautiful, if not hot and windy day at the winery. We used the watermelon colored peonies and roses, so that it wasn't pink or orange. The peonies were the first cut of the season and were stunning!
You two are the best! Thanks for letting me be part of your big day!

The ceremony site is on the grass outside of the reception tent. We used small glass vases for the pew marker flowers and tied them onto the chairs with raffia, again to give it a more natural look, then we puddled rose petals under them. We added two large urns in the front for the 'altar.' We brought these back in by the head table after the ceremony.

There were small stone vases with flowers for the belly bars.

The place cards were set inside large wood boxes filled with split peas, set in front of potted lavender bushes, it was a different and fun look to the table.

Rebecca wanted more of an organic look with the flowers so we added lavender and rosemary sprigs to the napkins and in the arrangements.

The tall centerpieces had a clear container that held the flowers, the pilsner vase was filled with horsetail and then set in a square wood box with lots of votive candles.

Look at this chocolate cake! We used all edible fruit and added orchids and gold dust to the fruit, it shimmered and glowed in the light, perfect!

Mandi and Jeremy at Mt. Woodsen

Mandi and Jeremy had their wedding at the castle at Mt. Woodsen. This is a great out of the way spot to have an outdoor wedding. Their colors were apple green, pink and chocolate brown. Her bouquet was made with pink mini calla lily's and mini green cymbidium orchids.

The cutest flower girl, we made a halo of pink spray roses for her hair, a princess for the day!

The bridesmaids bouquets were made with green roses and the pink calla lily's wrapped with chocolate brown satin ribbon.

Their wedding coordinator was Brenda Swann from www.swannsoirees.com She was everywhere and did a great job!

We used my iron arch and decorated it with flowers, we were able to use the spray on the sweetheart table after the ceremony.

With her colors of chocolate and pink we made centerpieces with rich coffee beans with large pink cymbidiums inserted in the middle of the vase.

For the place card table we used apples for the place cards, each one had their guests names and what table they were sitting at. In the center of the table we used chocolate brown Manzinita branches with hanging crystals, votives and orchids. Such a great conversation piece.

A beautiful cake by Shirley Resnick, the cake lady. She loves roses so we had them on every layer and also lots of rose petals. They topped it off with her new initial. congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Whiting!

It seems I either had pink, blue or purple weddings this year. Jen and Dave's wedding flowers were the hot pink and apple green, one of my favorites. Such fun flowers grow in these colors too. Much thanks to www.vesic.com for sending over the photos so that I could use them on my blog.

Jeni's bouquet was pink roses, dahlias, orchids and tulips.

The bridesmaid bouquets were all Pink and green Hydrangea's that were made on an oasis bouquet holder to keep them fresh on those hot summer days.

Peggy Sue and David

I had so much fun with Peggy Sue and David on their wedding day, they are a wonderful couple! Their wedding was at the old Navy Chapel at Liberty Station, which I think is one of the best Churches around for a ceremony. I love stain glass and the old dark wood and high ceilings. The reception was held at the Admiral Kidd Club, and 'Wow' what a difference some specialty linens and up lighting will do for a place. Haydee from www.conceptspartyrentals.com did the linens and napkins and they looked fantastic, and always a smile from her and her staff.

We used the mini white cally lily's, brown cymbidium orchids with chocolate cosmos for the bouquets.

Her colors were chocolate brown and Tiffany blue. Try working around those colors with flowers!! On half of the tables we used the blue dendrobium orchid stems and had them fall gracefully out of the top of a tall pilsner vase. The other half of the tables had 3 tall cylinder vases with crushed blue glass in the bottom and we curled curly willow inside and floated a candle, we also used lots of votive candles and a blue orchid on every napkin. The reflection of light against the chocolate linens and blue satin napkins was magical. We also did a candy tables with some of the best candy! Look at all the colors.

I had so much fun with Jen and Tom deciding all the details of their wedding with flowers. Balboa Park is such a great location for San Diego brides. Their wedding planner was Courtney Toney of www.joyfulweddingsandevents.com who was such a pleasure to work with and the tops in her field. Thank you Courtney for introducing me to Jen, she was a doll.

Look at her girls who were there to help her and to party! What a great outside area to have a reception. www.conceptspartyrentals.com hung all the lanterns and the draping of yards of white chiffon over the entire reception area and added the chocolate brown satin linens and napkins. The Mahogany Chivari chairs also added to the elegance of the wedding. The fans with the turquoise ribbon and the purple orchids made each place settings a delight! Jen had a candy table as her favors that were to die for, hand made sweets and chocolate, Yum!

I loved the idea of the turquoise accents with the purple flowers. The Koi pond area was so much fun to decorate, we added white faux rose balls and hanging votives in the trees behind the "Altar" area and then added garlands of flowers over the entire area. How fun! Details always make a wedding truly magical! Introducing my newest grandchild, baby Donovan! He was born on October 13th to my son Josh, and his wife Angie. He was 7lbs. 4 ozs. and 20 inches with a full head of black hair. Donovan looks most like his Mom with olive skin and a great smile. I've been blessed again with a beautiful, healthy grandchild. Thanks to all who helped me set up my weddings so I could spend time with the family.

Wow! Look at these two on their wedding day. What a fun couple, their wedding was held on the lawns of Morgan Run Golf Resort and Spa, with a beautiful backdrop of the greens and palm trees. Katie of Morgan Run, did a great job helping them through the wedding process. Heather Moreau of www.vallentynephotography.com did an awesome job of capturing their wedding day. Pink was the color of the day with touches of chocolate brown, what a great combination. Laurie wanted a simple color scheme of just pink roses with a touch of brown, so we added coffee beans to the vase of roses for the reception to add interest. She decided on pink M & M's and chocolate covered raisins in a over sized martini glass as a fun favor station. They were sitting on the place card table that held brown Manzinita branches with dripping crystals, votive candles and orchids in a tall glass urn with river rock. Laurie and Justin made there own table names which were great surf spots in San Diego. Thank you for letting me a part of your special day!

What a fun couple! Laura choose orange with green accents as her color scheme. she wanted tall centerpiece with lots of orange roses, we were able to set an amazing table using Orange Unique roses that open beautifully. Notice the orange parasols for the ceremony that brought everything together. Nicole Laddegard did all of the table card, menus and table numbers for her and they were beautiful. Morgan Run Golf Resort and Spa

What a fun year it has been so far. We have partnered up with Morgan Run to do their design and floral work and they have kept us pretty busy! It is different to work for a company where we don't do weddings every weekend for them. It's been a fun thing to do but I still love my weddings!! They call and if we are available, we come running. Here are a few pictures of the Open House we did for them in April. Mellissa Mullen Photography took awesome pictures of the Resort and our work. Concept Party Rentals did all the linens as well as the lounge furniture and bar. For any future brides, Morgan Run is a great Boutique Hotel with all of the amenities and it's in Rancho Santa Fe. The food is awesome and the view is beautiful. Thanks Anna, Meredith and Jamie we love coming for our lunches and chats!

I can't believe that my grand daughter is a year old!! Where does the time go. The whole family gathered at my house for a big "1" Birthday party for Sienna. for a minute I thought I was coordinating a wedding with so much to do! Wow! Marilyn is one of my best friends, her son was getting married up at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. So who was asked to do the flowers...As some of you know, Marilyn also helps me with a little wedding planning and set up from time to time too. Her and I go way back to our flying days with PSA and our mini skirts and go-go boots, now that was a sight! We clipped our wings and retired a few years ago and have remained friends and co-workers ever since. When ever I need help she is always there with a smile and usually a joke too. She worked on this wedding for 6 months for her son Damon and his new bride, and it shows. Marilyn's brother-in-law has a vineyard in Sonoma, CA with award winning wines www.riverroadvineyards.com, so they decided on a wine theme for the wedding. He donated bottles of Chardonnay for their favors and they had labels made with their names on it. We also had half bottles on each table with different wine labels for the table names. Purple was the color of the day, so of course we used green and purple grapes in the table arrangements along with purple Anenomes and roses. Jennie and I did the flowers in San Diego and then transported them on Friday for set-up. The overall look was very dramatic and beautiful. Dominic, a Caricature www.cartoonslinger.com was brought in to draw pictures of the guests which was a huge hit, they also had him do the save the date cards with their image on it! Melissa Mullen www.melissamullenphotography.com was brought up from San Diego to do the photos. Great job Melissa, the photos were awesome of course. Mark Lehman from Ashley video www.wedding-videography.com" also came up to capture the moving moments of the day too. You two Rock! Marilyn and Damon danced to "Dancing Queen" from Alba for their mother-son dance liked you've never seen, when ever I want to have a smile on my face I think of them dancing, it was fantastic. We had a great time with Damon and Stephany, thanks for letting me share in your big day! Marilyn and I are off to the Spa!!

How fun was this wedding? One of my dearest friend's daughter was getting married and she asked me to do the flowers for this special event. I enlisted our other friend Marilyn, to help with the coordinating, and Oh, what a time we had!! Summer and Zack are the cutest couple and they knew they wanted a beach theme for their September wedding. They were going to Hawaii for their honeymoon so we tried to capture some of the tropics in their feel for this wedding. Jennie and I made long orchids leis and we draped and swagged them in the gazebo and later used the leis on the head table and the candy table. Summer had a vision of all the bright tropical colors for her bouquet so we went with that for everything. Another friend who is a photographer came from back east to capture their day, Micah Cummings Photographer, thanks for sharing your photos. WOW! What a wedding and time we had, thank you Summer and Zack for letting us make your wedding something you will never forget!

Melissa and Ashneil's Wedding, August 17th and 18th

Melissa and Ashneil live in San Francisco now but they grew up in San Diego. Of course that is where they wanted to get married. Ashneil wanted to have a traditional Hindu wedding and Melissa wanted a Christian wedding. So of course they had both. On Friday night they had their ceremony at the Kona Kai on the beach with lots of family and friends. Concepts Party Rentals supplied the Mandup for the beach ceremony and the linens for the reception. This was my first Hindu wedding with all the different traditions. Jennie and I set up all of the flowers on the hottest day of the summer. Using tropicals, they looked great all day even in the blazing sun. The wedding was a beautiful celebration of his culture. The next night we went to the US Grant for a more elegant affair. Melissa chose baby blue and browns to complement the beautiful Presidential ballroom at the Grant. Concepts again provided linens for the room. The staff and the service at the Grant is one of the best in town, what a pleasure to work there. Campos Creative was the Photography studio who provided me with all the great photos of their wedding. Lynn Schuster from www.pureplanning.net made sure everything went off without a hitch. Thanks Lynn it was a pleasure working with you on this fun wedding weekend!

Adriana and Saul-Alcazar Garden in Balboa Park 4.21.07

Adriana and Saul were married in the beautiful Alcazar Gardens in Balboa Park. The gardens were amazing in the spring and the weather was perfect. The small reception was held in one of the intimate rooms in the House of Hospitality. The pale yellow lemore linens were provided by http://www.conceptspartyrentals.com/ We used the citrus colors with lemons, limes and oranges in the centerpieces with tulips, cymbidium orchids and roses in a bronze trophy bowl. Sandra Diaz was the photographer and I took some photos too. Congratulations!

Christina and Caleb's wedding was at the beautiful historic El Cortez ballroom in downtown San Diego. These two busy New Yorkers wanted to have a destination wedding back to Christina's roots and show their friends from New York the beautiful weather of San Diego in the spring. This dressy and elegant affair was fun for all. Amy and Maurice of http://www.weddingsbyamy.com/ were the photographers and they seemed to capture the spirit of the day. Jennie and I used a bamboo arbor in the courtyard with green dogwood and lots of white roses. Also a full rose petal path lead the way. The bridal party wore mini olive green cymbidium orchids, we also put those orchids on the cake. The girls wore champagne tea length cocktail dress and carried white ranuculas, while Christina had a combination of roses, orchids, cally lilys and ranuculas with white and olive green ribbon. Thanks Christina and Caleb, this was a beautiful, fun wedding!

Buffy and Andrew's wedding at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe 5.19.07

Wow! What a great wedding. Andrew and Buffy are a wonderful couple who had a great vision for their wedding. We choose to do only white flowers for the outside ceremony and then at the reception we made it very dramatic with black magic roses. The centerpieces were in the shape of a kissing ball on top of a tall glass vase with burgundy ribbon tied in a crisscross pattern up the sides with lots of rose petals throughout. Black was the accent color so we put black ribbon on the cake with an heirloom brooch. We used huge white silk roses in the hanging rose balls from the tree at the ceremony site for a unique backdrop. Michael Svoboda from http://www.truephotography.com/ did an awesome job on the photos, thanks Michael and Melissa for sharing them with me. Haydee of http://www.conceptspartyrentals/ provided the black linens and the champagne chair covers which transformed the Azalea room into something magical. I am now officially a Grandma. My daughter Stacy had her baby last week and she is beautiful. I was asked to be at the birth along with Evan's Mom and of course I was thrilled to be there. The wedding of Aphrodite and Anthony at the Hotel Del Coronado was a picture perfect day. Anthony had only been back from the gulf war for a month, so he planned most of the wedding from there with help from Aphrodite. Jennie and I also coordinated this wedding to also help them. We used tall vases with black magic red roses cascading over the rim and lots of rose petals. They had a very beautiful unique cake with roses that were made of frosting by www.Fabcake.com After dinner they were entertained by a Filipino dance group that was wonderful. The photographer was Jennifer Dery www.jenniferdery.com who captured the emotions of this couple beautifully and provided me with these photos. Rick and Lauren's Wedding was held at St. Francis Chapel in the Museum of Man and their reception was in the Loggia room in the House of Hospitality in Balboa Park. The wedding was photographed by Melissa Mullen of www.TruePhotography.com, look at these photos, isn't she the best! It was a second wedding for the two of them and they couldn't look any happier. Lauren's two children, Taylor and Paige were there supporting the happy couple. Jennie, my assistant and myself were the wedding coordinators as well as the florists for this wedding. They used some of my favorite colors of orange, pink and greens for a great springtime wedding. Jennie made up the Chapel flowers with the tall iron candelabras and Urns, we then transported them to the Loggia room to keep with the whole Spanish feel of Balboa Park. Haydee of www.ConceptsPartyRentals.com provided the green lemore linens which added an extra touch. Thanks Rick and Lauren it was beautiful!

Piper and Jaime's Wedding 12.16.06

Piper and Jamie's candlelit wedding was held at a quaint church in North Park called Grace Luthern, it had lots of wood and iron with mexican pavers lining the aisle. The whole feeling was very romantic and beautiful. With the wedding being only two weeks before Christmas she wanted to make sure that the colors were different than your tradional reds and greens. The bridesmaids wore chocolate brown dresses and carried hot pink peonies. Piper carried white peonies with dusty miller that was actually picked from her parent's garden. Their reception was held at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. We used combinations of white and green flowers with touches of the hot pink peonies and cymbidium orchids. Their photographer was Alice G. Patterson from Los Angeles, www.agpphoto.com she was kind enough to send me these photos. Thanks Alice, the photos were great!
